I have created these Sfumato Embroidery designs from my own photographs. I test every design to be sure it stitches well and looks good when it is completed.
The larger designs typically take 3 hours (or more!) to stitch.
Because of the digitizing process it is impossible to eliminate the jump stitches. Set your machine to trim at each jump.
If your machine can't do this, trimming stitches between each color, if necessary, is recommended.
Many of these designs are digitized for large hoops because the details in the images show better at a larger scale. Be sure you have a hoop big enough for the designs you choose.

Remember that colors look different depending on what they are next to and on top of! I include a color chart with each design but I recommend you lay your threads on top of the fabric you plan to use to see if the transition from dark to light looks good to you. I like to pick thread colors that look good with the fabric I choose even if this means they are very different from the thread chart.	Designs with a large field of lighter colors look best on light colored fabric. Unless I mention that a design has been created for dark fabrics, the lightest two colors in Sfumato designs stitch last are often not as dense as the darker colors. It is normal to see your fabric through the stitches. With a little pre-planning, you can use this to your advantage by adding a 6th color to you design by choosing a fabric that complements your thread choices.

PURPLE IRIS (Small) 5.25x6.89 Actual Stitchout This design can be stitched in any monochromatic color scheme you like. How about a pink, yellow or white iris? The options are endless! This design called for a soft purple for the last color. However, since the iris I photographed for this deign is purple and yellow, I changed the final color to a soft yellow. ANN RICE HOUSE, NEW ORLEANS 6.00x10.28 Actual Stitchout One one of our trips to New Orleans, my husband and I picked up a map of the Garden District and we walked the route looking for the various houses mentioned. Trust me, it does stitch as a rectangle! This is one design where the I chose a second color that was a bit too dark so there isn't enough contrast between the first color-black and the second color-dark brown. Can't wait to stitch it again so I can make myself a bag. Venice is my fvorite place in the world!
