Questions and commissions. |
After I had both sides sewn together I could attach the bottom strip of embroidery that would serve as a balcony ledge. I machine embroidered a design that was the shape I wanted but didn't get too busy visually. Of course, because it's me doing this, my first attempt at embroidering this pattern was done on a strip of silk that was too short to use. But, I didn't figure this out until after I had sewn it out several times. Still not sure what I will do with that 'practice' piece!
These photos show how I pinned the front cloth to the batting and the silk backing cloth. I then quilted around the windows and doors, the water, around the flowers across the top and the flowers hanging down. After this was finished, I attched the figure of the woman and stitched these pieces into place. This was the most difficult part to do because the figure does not lay flat to the surface. I got the face where I wanted it to be and then I sewed down the hair.
I believe I made and sewed down 3 bodies before I got one that was in proportion to the face. If I could remove it without damaging it I would have it tilted downhill toward the far shoulder. I think my dyslexia kicked in when I sewed down the lacy edging to her dress.
